Cheap & Easy Cleaning Tip – Clean your Bathroom Fixtures using Vinegar
This is a very cheap and easy cleaning tip to remove bathroom grime with just distilled white vinegar! Hard water and heavy use of your Airbnb guest bathrooms can lead to buildup of deposits on your showerhead and shower fixtures. This limescale is unsightly and extremely difficult to manually scrub from surfaces.
Many cleaning products used to combat limescale are incredibly expensive and toxic. The beauty of using vinegar to clean is that it is incredibly inexpensive, yet even more incredibly powerful all while being safe to handle with simple bathroom cleaning gloves. I recently took on some scum in my bathrooms with vinegar and I’ll show you how simple the process is!
Showerhead Cleaning Tip
Let’s start with cleaning the showerhead. As hard buildup accumulates, the spray of water can be negatively affected and the showerhead itself will look dirty and unappealing. No matter how far gone your think your showerhead is, try distilled white vinegar!
Here is the before photo of one of my showerheads.
It’s super easy to fix this problem with this one cheap and easy cleaning product.
Clean Your Showerhead with Vinegar
- Pour some distilled white vinegar in a plastic bag. The size of your showerhead will determine the size of the bag and how much vinegar you will need.
- Submerge the showerhead in this vingar
- Rubber band, tape, or twist tie the bag in place
- Let showerhead soak in vinegar for one hour
It should look like the photo below.
After a one hour soak, I pulled the bag off and dried it with a paper towel.
No scrubbing at all! Amazing! The vinegar cut right through the limescale and left my showerhead looking brand new!
Here’s a second example of how to use vinegar to clean your bathroom. If you cannot soak the fixture in vinegar, follow this technique to remove that pesky buildup.
Using Vinegar to Clean a Shower Fixture
- Fill a spray bottle with distilled white vinegar
- Spray fixture thoroughly with vinegar
- Continue to spray every 10 minutes for an hour
Below is the before picture of the fixture. Notice all the white hard buildup covering the shower fixture.
After one hour of spraying with vinegar, I wiped the fixture clean. Brand new again!
Distilled white vinegar is your best friend for cleaning tough deposits in the bathroom. It is amazingly effective when it has time to soak. Not only that, it’s cheaper than almost any cleaner on the market!
Here are some other cleaning projects you can use distilled white vinegar for:
